The previous night's episode marked the first time the show aired in its new time slot. Instead of a two-hour long show once a week, the program was split into two and ran Monday and Tuesday nights at midnight.

This episode is the second hour of the program for the week. I had to stay up late just to hit record. Once the tape was set in motion, I was free to go to bed. I knew I could count on some great hip-hop the following day and for many years to come.
