About Lecco's Lemma

The first Boston hip-hop show, Lecco's Lemma, was the brainchild of Magnus Johnstone. It launched in 1985 airing on WMBR 88.1 FM and broadcasting from the basement of MIT's Walker Memorial Building through May 24, 1986. Then, the show switched to Boston College's WZBC 90.3 FM where it stayed until its final show on September 3, 1988. Lecco's Lemma was an institution in Boston and was a jumping off point for Boston legends like Ed O.G., Gang Starr's Guru, and The Almighty RSO.

In 2017, the University Archives & Special Collections in the Joseph P. Healey Library at the University of Massachusetts Boston launched the Massachusetts Hip-Hop Archive featuring a digitized collection of Lecco's Lemmma shows from collector Willie Alexander.
