After a test show on Radio Tox in March 1997 in Germany, Funky Fresh moved over to Frankfurt-based Radio X and launched on February 28, 1998. The show features everything funky, from hip-hop to 70s funk to rare grooves, electro, reggae, drum & bass, and dubstep. Hip-Hop guests on the show have included Afrika Bambaataa, Masta Ace, Bahamadia, Camp Lo, and Invisble Skrath Piklz DJs Shortkut and Disk.

Host Double D notes that the "fresh" in the show's name is very literal: "In all the years since 1997, I've never played a song twice." Over 20 years later, Funky Fresh is still broadcast on Radio X.
