Zulu Beat

December 1982
WHBI (105.9 FM)
New York, NY, USA

Lots of great breaks, electro, early hip-hop, and live Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force funk. Interesting to hear Afrika refer to "Boogie Down Brooklyn" ("boogie down" usually used in reference to the Bronx) and a "beat box" mix that was not referring to a human beat box but probably one of the early Roland drum machines.
  • DJs/Hosts: Afrika Islam, Donald D
  • Archive notes: The show is dated in the Internet Archive as December 1982. It seems plausible based on the music, though there's nothing that confirms or denies it in the airbreaks.
